Mentor me, mentor me!

Mentor Me matches children between the ages of 6 to 12 with a reliable adult mentor who will help your child set and meet goals, stand-up to peer pressure, make good choices and gain confidence. Each Mentor is asked to commit to at least one year worth of mentoring and have weekly contact.

The impact of having a mentor in a child's life can be significant

A survey of children involved in the Forsyth County program in 2006, their parent/guardian their Mentor and their teachers indicated that in the categories evaluated:
   --81% showed improvement in their self-confidence / self-esteem levels
--92% maintained or showed improvement in behavior and academic performance

Our mentoring program will provide a stable relationship for your son or daughter with a dependable volunteer mentor from your community. A Mentor is someone your child can learn from and look up to; someone who can devote special one-to-one time to your child and give encouragement and motivation to reach life goals.

To enroll your child:

STEP 1: Attend the Parent/Guardian Training Session
Please bring the following pieces of information with you:
-your child’s social security number
-name of your child’s school
-if your child is seeing a counselor for any reason, please bring us the counselor’s name and contact information

STEP 2:
Once all your materials are collected, evaluated and approved, we will pre-match your child with a Mentor and discuss the volunteer’s details with you. With your approval of the Mentor, a meeting will be set up so that you, your child and the Mentor can meet and set goals for the mentoring relationship.
