MENTOR ME NORTH GEORGIA, INC. WELCOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Former Community College President Selected to Lead Regional Mentoring Organization
![]() | Cumming, Georgia, January 18, 2010 – The Board of Directors for Mentor Me North Georgia, Inc. has selected Stephen A. Deraney as their new Executive Director. Mr. Deraney served as President of Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro, Georgia from 1994 to 2003. He also served as Interim President of Lanier Technical College in Hall County prior to the selection of Dr. Mike Moye as President of the College. Mr. Deraney has an extensive background in education, administration and fund development. “Stephen’s professional background and experience aligns well with the direction of Mentor Me North, Georgia,” said Lynn Jackson, Board Chair for Mentor Me North Georgia, Inc. “We believe Stephen has the skills to lead MMNG in serving Forsyth and the surrounding communities, allowing us to continue in our mission to reach even more children who are need of positive adult role models.” Mr. Deraney will officially begin on Monday, January 25, 2010 and will succeed the current Executive Director, Carol Tunstall who announced her retirement late last year. Mr. Deraney and Ms. Tunstall will work together for a short period of time to ensure a smooth transition. “I am excited about the opportunity to serve the region in this capacity,” said Stephen Deraney. “I have lived a life of service through education and this marks an important transition to helping children who need the life changing experience that mentoring often provides.” A total of 52 candidates expressed interest in the position. Mentor Me North Georgia, Inc. employed the services of Toomah.com to manage the selection process. |
